Highway 7 transformation in Vaughan is taking shaped

The vision of a vibrant, new downtown for the City of Vaughan is gradually becoming reality. Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is under construction, the 8.6 km Toronto-York-Spadina Subway Extension is happening, and the transformation of Highway 7 is emerging, as some of the more permanent features are built and installed over the next several months – features that will transform the streetscape.

what you’ll soon see:

New streetlight base and pole installation

  • This work is ongoing, to be completed in approximately three months.
  • Starting along the north side of Hwy 7, from Jane Street to the CN Bridge, then from the CN Bridge to Keele Street.
  • Once the north side is complete, crews will begin work on the south side.
  • From July 23–July 31, 9:30am–3:30pm there will be temporary curb lane closures at the southeast corner of Keele S & Hwy 7. Please expect traffic delays.

Foundation work for the Vivastation protective wall

  • The Vivastation protective wall is curved, states the station name, and is located at the sides of each intersection.
  • Foundation work on these structures at Jane, Maplecrete, Creditstone and Keele is ongoing and will continue for approximately five months.

Base work for sidewalk pavers

  • Starting the week of July 27, for approximately two months along the north side of Hwy 7, from Jane to Keele, then proceeding to the south side.

The layout, delivery and installation of the iconic vivastation steel frames and glass canopies

  • Starting the week of July 29 for approximately four weeks at the east and westbound Creditstone vivastations.

Planter installation along the boulevard

  • Beginning at the end of August, for approximately four months.
  • Various locations, from Jane to the CN Bridge.
