Vaughan: overnight lane closures for utility work

As part of rapidway construction, storm sewer upgrades will be underway in the overnight hours on Highway 7 starting March 25 for approximately two weeks. Please see the information below about temporary lane closures:

storm sewer work – Edgeley Boulevard to Jane Street

dates of work*: starting Wednesday, March 25 for approximately one week
work hours: 8pm to 7am

noticeable impacts:

  • Starting March 25, for approximately seven nights, Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane in each direction just east of Edgeley Boulevard to Jane Street.
  • Traffic will be shifted first to the north side of Highway 7, and then to the south side.
  • Each morning, lanes will re-open, with steel plates covering work areas.
  • Sidewalks, crosswalks and bus stops will remain open and directional signs will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • As required, paid duty police officers will be on site to direct motorists and pedestrians.

dates of work*: starting the week of March 30, for approximately one week
work hours: 8pm to 7am

noticeable impacts:

  • Starting the week of March 30, for approximately seven nights, Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Keele Street and Bowes Road.
  • Traffic will be shifted first to the north side of Highway 7, and then to the south side.
  • During the overnight hours, access to/from Highway 7 at Hillside Avenue will be closed, with detours in place via Baldwin Avenue.
  • Keele and Bowes/Baldwin will remain open, allowing access to properties where the driveway access is temporarily closed. Residential driveways directly fronting onto the south side of Highway 7 will continue to have access.
  • Each morning, lanes will re-open, with steel plates covering work areas.
  • Sidewalks, crosswalks and bus stops will remain open and directional signs will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • As required, paid duty police officers will be on site to direct motorists and pedestrians.
