traffic shift and lane reductions on Highway 7 West

May 22, 2014

To accommodate multiple work activities related to vivaNext rapidway construction on Highway 7 West, traffic lanes will be shifted, reduced and narrowed from Jane Street to east of the CN Bridge. Please see below for further details.

Lane reduction dates: The week of May 26, for approximately 5 months*
Work locations and lane closures: To prepare for the lane reduction mentioned above, from May 26–28*, crews will be working from approximately 7pm-7am to line paint the road from Jane to the CN Bridge.

traffic-shift

what impact will there be?

  • During the line painting work, east and westbound traffic lanes will be intermittently closed overnight from May 26 – 28. Due to the nature of this work there will be noise and vibration around work areas.
  • Once line painting is completed, traffic lanes will be shifted north and narrowed. Three lanes will remain westbound, however eastbound traffic will be reduced to two lanes from Creditstone Road to east of the CN Bridge.
  • Dedicated left-turn lanes at signalized intersections will remain and, where possible, a centre emergency services/shared left-turn lane will be provided.
  • Where bus stops and sidewalks are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • Businesses are open during construction and access to driveways will be maintained.
