underground hydro work continues east of Jane Street

As hydro crews continue to install underground hydro lines from Edgeley Boulevard to east of Jane Street, please be reminded that traffic shifts and lane closures are in place at Jane Street and Highway 7. This work will be completed in segments over several months. Please see details below about the next segment:

Work dates*: Starting Thursday, May 15 for approximately three months
Work hours: Although the majority of work will take place from 7am to 7pm, the lane closures may stay in place overnight.

  • Crews will install underground hydro lines from west of Jane Street to Millway Avenue on the north side of Highway 7 [see map].

general description of hydro relocation process

  • Pits will be excavated and new hydro cables will be installed underground.
  • Hydro service will be transferred to new underground cables.
  • Crews will then backfill and restore the work areas.

what impact will there be?

  • Eastbound lanes along Highway 7 will be reduced in this work area. Expect traffic delays due to lane restrictions.
  • Sidewalks may be impacted by this work. If a sidewalk is closed, directional signs will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • Access will be maintained to driveways in work areas.
  • Bus stops in this work area will be temporarily relocated. Directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop.
  • Traffic control staff will be on site as required.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks. Some weekend work may be required.
