Geotechnical work on Highway 7 West

Crews are completing geotechnical tests along Highway 7 between Highway 400 and the rail bridge east of Keele Street. This geotechnical work will help prepare for the first phase of rapidway construction, and will last about four weeks until approximately November 23, 2012.

Work locations and lane closures

Hillside Creek

  • Work location: near Hillside Creek, just east of Keele Street
  • Lane closures: eastbound curb lane
  • Work duration: approximately four days, 9:30am-3:30pm

Keele Street

  • Work location: at the Keele Street intersection, on the east side, and the west side
  • Lane closures: eastbound centre lane on the east side of the intersection, and the westbound centre lane on the west side of the intersection
  • Work duration: approximately six days, 9:30am-3:30pm

Creditstone Road

  • Work location: at the Creditstone Road intersection, on the east side, and the west side
  • Lane closures: eastbound centre lane on the east side of the intersection, and the westbound centre lane on the west side of the intersection
  • Work duration: approximately six days, 9:30am-3:30pm

Vaughan Metropolitan Centre:

  • Work location: between Jane Street and Edgeley Boulevard / Interchange Way
  • Lane closures: eastbound and westbound centre lanes
  • Work duration: approximately four days, 9:30am-3:30pm

Description of work

  • Crews will bore sample holes along the road, spending four to six days at each location, and each hole will be filled before crews move to the next spot.
  • Some temporary lane closures of Highway 7 will be required.
  • Some noise may be noticeable during drilling.
  • Sidewalks will remain open during this work.
  • As needed, directional signs and police officers will help guide traffic.
