Highway 7 paving in Vaughan Metropolitan Centre area

As rapidway and the bus rapid transit vivastation construction continues along Highway 7 West in the VMC area, the next segments of base-layer, top-coat black and rapidway red asphalt paving will be taking place between Edgeley Boulevard and Jane Street. These paving activities will be completed over two weekends. Please see below for further details.

base-layer paving:

work dates*: Friday, Sept. 29 to Monday, Oct. 2
work hours*: 8pm Friday to 6am Monday, 24 hrs/day
  • To help minimize overall impacts and maximize efficiency, this paving operation is scheduled over the weekend from 8pm Friday to 6am Monday.
  • Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Edgeley Blvd. to Jane St.
  • Traffic will be placed into the curb lanes.

top coat black and red paving:

work dates*: Friday, Oct. 13 to Monday, Oct. 16
work hours*: 8pm Friday to 6am Monday, 24 hrs/day
  • To help minimize overall impacts and maximize efficiency, this paving operation is scheduled over the weekend from 8pm Friday to 6am Monday.
  • Highway 7, between Jane and Edgeley, will be fully closed over the weekend.
  • Additional information will be provided closer to the date.
general impacts:
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be onsite to help direct traffic, as required.
  • Detour signs to indicate alternate routes will be posted.
  • Sidewalks and bus stops will remain open where possible. If a sidewalk or bus stop is closed, directional signage will be posted to help guide pedestrians.

  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise, dust and vibration from equipment and trucks.
  • Access to businesses and services will be maintained at all times.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

These major improvements to Highway 7 West will be disruptive in the short-term, but will be completed this year and will benefit generations to come.
