phase 1

Construction is underway for the first phase of the vivaNext rapidway on Highway 7 West, from Interchange Way/Edgeley Boulevard to just east of Keele Street at Bowes Road. This project includes three new vivastations, including a new vivastation in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre development area that will connect with Toronto Transit Commission subway and an inter-regional bus terminal.

what you can expect to see:

Pre-construction activity is well underway with gas main installations, hydrant relocations, sign removals and geotechnical testing taking place over the summer months to prepare for road widening. Check out our Phase 1 Construction Brochure to find out more!
Phase one is scheduled to be completed in 2016 to coincide with the completion of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension.

phase 2

This phase includes 12.1 km of rapidways on Highway 7 West from Edgeley Boulevard to Helen Street, and from Bowes Road to Yonge Street, including parts of Bathurst Street and Centre Street. This phase will also include eight centre median vivastations and two curbside vivastations.

what you can expect to see:

Over the next 6 months, we’ll be busy reviewing designs and getting plans together to prepare for pre-construction. During this construction planning phase, you may even see some vivaNext staff walking along the corridor, taking photos and gathering data. If you see us, say hello and don’t be shy about asking questions. Over the fall and winter months, we will be working with accredited surveyors to continue the preliminary engineering work along the corridor.
Phase two construction is scheduled to begin in 2015 and be completed in 2018.
