next week on Centre St. >> storm sewer and hydro pole installations continue

January 12, 2018

Starting Monday, crews will be conducting storm sewer work on the north side of Centre Street between New Westminster Drive and Disera Drive. In addition, crews will be installing hydro poles on Centre St. between Vaughan Boulevard and Concord Road beginning Tuesday.  Please see below for further details.

storm sewer work:

work dates*: Monday, Jan. 15 for approximately one week
work hours*: 7am–7pm [24-hour closure]

  • To accommodate storm sewer work on the north side of Centre between New Westminster and Disera, the westbound curb lane will be closed. The right turn lane at New Westminster may require closure as well to accommodate the work area.
  • The bus stop at the northeast corner of New Westminster will be relocated east on Centre. Sidewalks and other bus stops will remain open wherever possible. If a sidewalk or bus stop is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
  • All driveways will remain accessible within the closure.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.

hydro pole installations:

work dates*: Tuesday, Jan. 16 to Thursday, Jan. 18
work hours*: 9am–3pm

  • Crews will be installing eight new hydro poles on the north side of Centre St. between Vaughan Blvd. and Concord Rd.
  • To accommodate this work, westbound Centre will be reduced to one lane in the area.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic as required.
  • The bus stop at the northeast corner of Concord Rd. will be relocated west of the intersection on Centre. Sidewalks and other bus stops will remain open wherever possible. If a sidewalk or bus stop is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
