what you need to know:

work dates*: Tuesday, Dec. 19 to Wednesday, Dec. 20
work hours*: 8pm– 7am [overnight]

  • To accommodate road widening activities along Centre Street, there will be a traffic shift on a small segment of Centre Street at the entrance of the 1054 Centre Street plaza.
  • Old traffic lines will be removed and newly painted lanes will be reopened.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise/dust from equipment & trucks.
  • Sidewalks and bus stops will remain open wherever possible. If a sidewalk or bus stop is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

We understand that overnight work is disruptive to those who live and work in the area, and have taken steps to reduce the impacts where possible. While we aim to balance the needs of commuters, businesses, area residents, the community at large and the project, night work is sometimes unavoidable.

crews dedicated to minimize disruption where possible:

  • Limit the reversing of vehicles with back-up safety beeper
  • Aim headlights away from buildings and homes
  • Reduce the banging noise from dump truck tailgates
  • Set up portable lights in a way that limits upcasting onto buildings
  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and running well

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates and sign up for email notifications at vivanext.com/subscribe [select Bathurst & Centre/Vaughan].

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
