hydro pole installations continue on Centre & curb construction on Highway 7

December 04, 2017

Starting tomorrow, crews are continuing to install new hydro poles on the north side of Centre Street east of Vaughan Boulevard and pouring curbs on Highway 7 and the Yonge Street connector road. Please see below for further details.

hydro pole installations on Centre:

work dates*: Tuesday, Dec. 5
work hours*: 8am–5pm

  • Tomorrow, crews will be installing two new hydro poles on the north side of Centre St., just east of Vaughan Blvd.
  • To accommodate this work, westbound Centre will be reduced to one lane in the area.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic as required.
  • The YRT stop at the northeast corner of Centre and Vaughan Blvd will be temporarily moved to the west side of Vaughan Blvd from Tuesday, Dec. 5 to Friday, Dec. 8.

curb work on Highway 7:

work dates*: Tuesday, Dec. 5
work hours*: 7am-3:30pm

  • Curb work at the intersection of Highway 7 and the Yonge connector road will occur in 3 stages.
  • 7am-9:30am: the right-turn ramps at the intersection of Highway 7 and the Yonge connector road will be closed.
  • 9:30am-12:30pm: the westbound curb lane on Highway 7 will be closed.
  • 12:30pm-3:30pm: the Yonge connector curb lanes, northbound and southbound will be close one after the other.

general impacts:

  • Sidewalks will remain open wherever possible. If a sidewalk is closed, directional signs will be onsite to help guide pedestrians.
  • Due to the nature of these work activities, at times there will be construction-related noise and vibration from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

be ready. The new vivastation for bus rapid transit is opening soon on Highway 7! Customers will be riding dedicated bus lanes into Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station—connecting them to the first subway line in York Region, the TTC Line 1 extension.
