hydro pole installations & signal activation on Centre

November 14, 2017

Hello,

Starting Wednesday, crews will continue hydro pole installations on Centre Street between New Westminster Drive and Vaughan Boulevard. In addition crews will be activating the temporary traffic signals at the Highway 7 and Centre Street intersection. Please see below for further details.

hydro pole installations continue on Centre St.:

work dates*: Wednesday, November 15 to Friday, November 17
work hours*: 7am–5pm

  • Crews will be installing seven new hydro poles on the north side of Centre St., between New Westminster and Vaughan Blvd.
  • To accommodate this work, westbound Centre will be reduced to one lane in the area.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic as required.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks and bus stops will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.

signal activation at Highway 7 and Centre St.

work dates*: Wednesday, November 15
work hours*: 9am–12pm

  • On Wednesday morning, at the Highway 7 and Centre St. intersection, the temporary traffic signals that will be in place throughout construction are scheduled to be activated.
  • The traffic lights will be out of service intermittently, in all directions. Expect to see the lights out or flashing.
  • Once activated, crews will return at a later date to remove the old signal poles and equipment.
  • This work may require short-term lane closures around each work area as crews make their way around the intersection.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
