upcoming milling and re-paving on Bathurst and Centre Streets

June 24, 2020

As asphalt deficiencies repairs continue, on Thursday, crews will be completing repairs on Bathurst and Centre Streets, as part of the project's deficiency and warranty work. To accommodate this operation, there will be lane closures, traffic will be diverted into rapidway lanes where necessary, and driveways will be impacted. Please see below for further details.

what you need to know:

work dates*: Thursday, June 25
work hours*: 7am–5pm

  • Crews are milling and re-paving two locations on Bathurst:
    • southbound curb lane at the on-ramp to westbound Highway 407.
    • the Bathurst entrance to Walmart.
  • To accommodate asphalt repairs on Bathurst, at Beverley Glen Boulevard, traffic will divert into the rapidway lanes, and back into regular lanes just north of Centre.
  • In addition, access to North Park Rd. and the Bathurst Walmart entrance will be closed.
  • On Centre, crews are milling and re-paving the westbound curb lane from Taiga Drive to Bathurst.
  • To accommodate asphalt repairs on Centre, the westbound curb lane will be closed from Taiga Drive to Bathurst, and the southbound lanes on Taiga will be closed.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be onsite to help direct traffic, as needed.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks and bus stops will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • Access to driveways, will be temporarily closed as the paving operation progresses through these areas.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be dust and construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.

safety border

for your safety:

be alert.

  • With construction site conditions changing daily, it's important for everyone to pay attention to their surroundings. Watch for signs and traffic barrels that indicate lane closures or shifts, as well as relocated sidewalks and bus stops.

be safe.

  • Do not walk into construction zones or remove signs and barricades that are in place for everyone's safety. Even when no workers are present, it's a hazardous area. Cross at designated crosswalks, follow posted signs, and keep at a safe distance.

slow down.

  • To protect construction workers, pedestrians and yourself, it's crucial to slow down, follow the posted speed limit, and pay close attention to construction signs and road markings.

safety is a shared responsibility.

  • Do not ignore safety warnings or put others at risk by moving pylons, barricades or signage. Let's make sure at the end of every day, everyone gets home to their families.
