work dates*: Thursday Sept. 28th for approximately a week and a half [overnight]
work hours*: 7pm–6am

what you need to know:

  • Crews will begin paving a second layer of asphalt on Highway 7 from west of the Bathurst overpass and east of the Yonge connector.
  • During overnight paving, Highway 7 will be down to one lane in each direction.
  • Crews will start with the eastbound lanes, paving one lane each night. Once all lanes eastbound are completed, they will begin paving one lane each night travelling westbound.
  • Crews will paint new traffic lines before opening lanes.
  • During the day, Highway 7 will be two lanes in each direction.
  • On Friday, Sept. 29 at 8pm to Saturday, Sept 30 at 8pm, Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
  • Paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

We understand that overnight work is disruptive to those who live and work in the area, and have taken steps to reduce the impacts where possible. While we aim to balance the needs of commuters, businesses, area residents, the community at large and the project, night work is sometimes unavoidable. Read more about how we balance the needs of the corridor in working day and night.

crews dedicated to minimize disruption where possible:

  • Limit the reversing of vehicles with back-up safety beeper.
  • Aim headlights away from buildings and homes.
  • Reduce the banging noise from dump truck tailgates.
  • Set up portable lights in a way that limits upcasting onto buildings.
  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and running well.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
