In order to accommodate future road widening work on the south side of Centre Street, there will be a traffic shift tonight from Bathurst Street to New Westminster Drive. Lanes will be shifted to the north side of the street. Please see below for further details.

what you need to know:
- In preparation for future road widening, crews will be shifting both eastbound and westbound lanes on Centre Street toward the north side of the street, from east of Bathurst to west of New Westminster.
- This lane shift will be in place for several months.
- At 8pm on Friday evening, Centre St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction both eastbound and westbound in order for crews to remove old traffic lines and paint new ones.
- Next, the newly painted lanes will reopen and the remaining lanes will be closed to obliterate old lanes and paint new ones.
- Early Saturday morning weather permitting, lanes will reopen shifted to the north with two lanes eastbound and two lanes westbound.
- Wherever possible, sidewalks and bus stops will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
- Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
- Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
