work dates*: Tuesday, March 14 to Wednesday, March 15, and over the next few weeks
work hours*: 9:30am–3:30pm

  • On Tuesday and Wednesday next week, northbound and southbound Bathurst St. between New Westminster Dr. and Centre St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted into the east lanes away from the work area.
  • In addition, from Bathurst St., there will be no access to Beverley Glen Blvd. [Tuesday] or North Park Dr. [Wednesday] during this work. Note that all lanes will reopen each night.
  • As each new pole is hoisted up and over existing wires and placed on its foundation, traffic on Bathurst will be stopped in all directions for up to 10-15 minutes at a time.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic as required.
  • Where sidewalks or bus stops are closed or relocated around work areas, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk and bus stop.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Following this work, crews will continue framing the poles and stringing the lines on Bathurst between New Westminster Dr. and Beverley Glen which may require short-term curb lane closures.
  • Check out this video [of the vivaNext project on Yonge Street] for a look at how it’s done.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible.

Friendly Reminder: The clocks spring ahead this Sunday, March 12 and March Break is next week. Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones for the safety of the community and workers in the area.
