Starting tomorrow, crews will be activating traffic signals and removing medians on Bathurst Street, from Beverley Glen Boulevard to Worth Boulevard/ Flamingo Road. Please see below for further details on this work and temporary lane reductions.
traffic signal activations
Over the past few weeks, crews have been installing temporary traffic poles and signals at the intersections along Bathurst. Last week, they activated the new signals at Centre and, this week, they will activate the remaining intersections at Beverley Glen Boulevard [1], New Westminster Drive/ Atkinson Avenue [2] and Worth Boulevard/ Flamingo Road [3].
work dates*: Tuesday, August 23 to Thursday, August 25
work hours*: 9am–5pm
what you need to know
- The temporary traffic signals are scheduled to be activated by mid-day along Bathurst Street at the following intersections, as follows:
- Beverley Glen–Tuesday, August 23
- New Westminster/Atkinson–Wednesday, August 24
- Worth/Flamingo–Thursday, August 25
- The traffic lights will be out of service in all directions. Expect to see the lights out or flashing.
- For the remainder of the day, crews will remove the old signal poles and equipment.
- This work will require lane closures around each work area as crews make their way around the intersection.
- Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.
- Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

median removals
A few months ago, crews removed the majority of median strips (the areas that separate opposing lanes of traffic) on Bathurst and Centre Streets. Once the new traffic signals have been activated (as outlined above), the remaining medians will be removed to prepare for upcoming road work.
work dates*: Wednesday, August 24 to Friday, August 26
work hours*: 9:30am–3:30pm
what you need to know:
- Crews will be removing median strips around the intersections along Bathurst at Centre, Beverley Glen, New Westminster/ Atkinson, and Worth/ Flamingo, heading in a northbound direction.
- This work will require multiple lane closures around each median strip in every direction as crews make their way around the intersections.
- First, median strips will be removed, one area at a time, and then each removal area will be paved in multiple layers.
- There will be construction-related noise and vibration from equipment and trucks during this activity.
- Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. Some overnight and/or weekend work may be required. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.
