utility daylighting and lane reductions on Bathurst Street

June 27, 2016

As part of the water main replacement work on Bathurst Street, one northbound curb lane will be closed in several segments between Centre Street and the Highway 7 connector ramp. See below for details.

work dates*: Tuesday, June 28 to Friday, July 29
work hours*: 9am–4pm

  • Crews will be utility daylighting – which means exposing underground utilities – along the east side of Bathurst as part of water main drilling.
  • To accommodate this work, northbound Bathurst will be reduced to one lane in several segments between Centre and the Highway 7 connector ramp, generally moving in a northbound direction.
  • First, crews will be cutting and milling around several utility areas.
  • Next, asphalt will be removed and a steel plate will cover the excavated area overnight.
  • Then, a hydrovac truck will be used to expose the utilities so that they can be monitored during drilling.
  • At the end of each day, the work areas will be plated. Please watch for bumps.
  • Crews will also be putting temporary construction barriers around some of the excavated areas to protect these work zones.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise, dust and vibration disturbances from equipment and trucks.
  • There may be some noise prior to 7am as crews assemble and arrange equipment.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible.

Thank you for your patience as we transform Bathurst & Centre. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
