removing medians on Bathurst Street

May 27, 2016

Beginning Monday, crews will be removing median strips on Bathurst St. in preparation for upcoming water main replacement work. Please see below for details, and an update from your Community Liaisons:

work dates*: Monday, May 30 to Friday, June 10
work hours: 9am–4pm

  • In preparation for water main replacement work, crews will be removing median strips (the areas that separate opposing lanes of traffic) on Bathurst Street next week.
  • Crews will be starting with the median strip that is north of the Bathurst St. connector ramp, working their way south to Centre St. Median strips will not be removed across the 407 Bridge.
  • This work will require one northbound and one southbound lane closure around each median strip, as crews complete this task in three steps.

1. Medians will be removed, one at a time, moving from north to south.
2. Next, crews will pave each area where median strips were removed.
3. Finally, crews will paint traffic lines.

  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones. In a few weeks’ time, there will be reduced speed limit signs posted. Please keep an eye out for these.
  • Also, in the coming weeks, crews will be removing median strips along Centre St., also in preparation for water main work. More details to follow.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible.
