demolition at 1082 Centre Street

October 23, 2015

Phase one of vivaNext rapidway construction along Highway 7 West is underway in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and we’re preparing for construction of phase two. Phase two includes building rapidway lanes from the intersection of Centre Street and Highway 7 to Yonge Street, via the existing Viva route on Centre and Bathurst Streets. It also includes rapidway lanes in western Vaughan from Edgeley Boulevard to Helen Street. We’re committed to keeping you informed, to work with you and provide up-to-date information with each phase of this project.

Starting this month, crews will be removing the vacant building owned by York Region on Centre Street, just west of New Westminster Drive [see map below]. Removal of the building will allow for a future driveway to be built.

Over the summer, we worked with Habitat for Humanity to salvage all available furniture and building materials from the property. Nearly 80 items were offered as donation to Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, the sale of which will help fund Habitat homebuilding projects.

what you need to know:

  • Building removal and site clean-up will take approximately one month.
  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • At times there will be dust and vibration around the work area.
  • Some weekend work may be required.

We understand that construction can be disruptive, and we thank you in advance for your patience as we transform Highway 7, Centre and Bathurst Street.
