construction update for Davis Drive

October 28, 2015

Now that paving is complete, crews will be turning their attention to the finishing touches at intersections along the Davis Drive corridor. Please read on for details of upcoming work.

asphalt stamping at crosswalks

Asphalt stamping refers to road markings that clearly show where pedestrians are to cross the street at signalized intersections. The stamping gives the impression of a cobblestone path on the road. Crews will be active from Yonge Street to Huron Heights Drive.

work dates: Thursday, October 29 – Sunday, November 1*
work hours: 7am-7pm*

  • Temporary lane closures will be required.
  • Pedestrian access around the area will be maintained. Follow signs to help guide you to your destination.

left-turn guideline painting

The left-turn guidelines provide steering assistance for drivers turning left through the intersection. Crews will be active from Yonge to Huron Heights.

work dates: Thursday, October 29 – Sunday, November 1*
work hours: 7am-7pm*

  • Work at each intersection will take approximately 2 hours to complete.
  • Drivers will not be able to make left-turns through the intersections while work is taking place.
  • North and southbound drivers will only be able to make a right-turn at Davis.
  • Drivers will need to continue to the next available signalized intersection to make a U-turn and continue to their destination.
  • Pedestrian access around the area will be maintained. Follow signs to help guide you to your destination.
  • YRT will continue service on Davis during this activity. Bus stops may be relocated or closed as work progresses and routes may be detoured. Look for signs and follow directions.

GO Transit signal installation

Crews will be installing new transit signals and long gate arms at the GO railway crossing on Davis, starting Thursday, October 29.

work dates: Thursday, October 29 – Sunday, November 1*
work hours: 9am-4pm*

  • The work has been scheduled so as not to interfere with GO Train service.
  • Once installed, the arms and signals will be made operational and tested.
  • The arms will be raised and lowered at regular intervals, even when no trains are approaching. Expect delays through this area during testing.

As we are in the final stages before opening the rapidway, planned activities may change or other work may be added to take full advantage of favourable weather or available crews so the work can be completed as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
