what you need to know:

  • Day 1:
    • Traffic will be restricted between Main and Huron Heights, as crews pave the rapidway and intersections.
    • Drivers will not be able to make left-turns through the intersections. North and southbound drivers will only be able to make a right-turn at Davis.
    • To get to your destination, U-turns will be available at Lorne Avenue and Huron Heights Drive only.
    • Davis Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction where paving is taking place.
  • Day 2 & 3:
  • Access to Davis Drive from the following streets will temporarily close as crews pave each intersection:
    • Main Street
    • Seniors’ Meeting Place/Newmarket Chamber of Commerce entrance
    • Lundy’s Lane/Prospect Street
    • Davis entrance to Southlake Regional Health Centre
    • Patterson Street/Roxborough Road
  • The entrance to Tannery Mall will be narrowed as crews pave the area, but access will be maintained. Paving in this location will take place between 8:30am and 4:30pm, around GO train hours.
  • Southlake Regional Health Centre will always have two entrances open during paving.
  • Paving will be staged to maintain east and westbound traffic along Davis as this work is taking place.

Viva bus testing

In preparation for the opening of the Davis Drive rapidway, a Viva bus will be testing the rapidway systems and signals on Wednesday, October 21. You many notice this bus driving along Davis Drive, but please note that this bus is not in service yet.

safety reminder

Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to watch for traffic shifts and signs that will guide you along your way. Drive with care through construction zones and give yourself enough time to safely arrive at your destination.

As we are in the final stages before opening the rapidway, planned activities may change or other work may be added to take full advantage of favourable weather or available crews so the work can be completed as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
