The transformation of Davis Drive continues with longer-term construction work at the Newmarket Seniors’ Meeting Place at 474 Davis. In its final state, a new traffic island will be in place at the main entrance to provide easy passenger pick-up and drop-off, and increased parking capacity for visitors. The property enhancements began this week and will be in service by the end of September.

To accommodate this work, there will be changes to how vehicles and pedestrians access the parking lot, building and the Tom Taylor Trail.

Work dates: Monday, August 10 to September 30*
Work hours: Approximately 7 am – 7 pm

What you need to know:

• The pedestrian sidewalk on south side of Davis will remain closed during construction.
• Pedestrians will need to cross Davis at the signalized intersection to access the property.
• The main doors to the Seniors’ Meeting Place will be closed. Access to the building will be maintained through the west entrance.
• Passenger pick-up and drop-off by the Community Bus will take place at the west side entrance.
• Access to Tom Taylor Trail from Davis on the east side of the building will be closed during construction.
• Pedestrians and cyclists can access the Tom Taylor Trail on the north side of Davis through the Tannery Mall parking lot.
• Vehicle access to the property will be restricted to one inbound lane and one outbound lane.
• Outbound motorists will be able to turn left, right, or proceed through the signalized intersection back on to Davis.
• There will be noise, dust, and intermittent vibrations associated with this work.
