Roadwork and paving update for Davis Drive

August 10, 2015

Big changes are coming in the following weeks as we close in on our Viva service launch on Davis Drive at the end of the year. The changes to intersections, traffic lights and roads are outlined below.

Road widening

Road widening work will begin along the north side of Davis Drive from KFC [655 Davis] to east of Huron Heights [see original construction bulletin from May 22]. Further details are provided below.

Work dates*: As early as Monday, August 10 – Fall 2015*
Work hours*: 7am – 7pm. Weekend work may be required
Work area: 655 Davis – east of Huron Heights

What you need to know:

  • Expect upcoming road closures to Patterson Street and Huron Heights Drive (just north of Davis) as crews work across them. Please watch for road closed signs that will be posted in advance within the community for the most up-to-date information.
  • At times, crews may be working in and around driveways. Vehicle and pedestrian access to each business will be maintained. Please watch for entrance open signs.
  • Sidewalk access in the area will shift as the work progresses. Please follow signs that will guide you to your destination.
  • There will be noise, dust, intermittent vibrations and increased truck traffic.
  • At a later date, crews will return to the area to pave and install new curbs and sidewalks on the north and south side of the work area.

Traffic sensor installation

To help ease the flow of traffic along Davis, left-turn traffic sensors will be installed at the intersections of Yonge Street, George Street and Barbara Road. The sensors will be used to prioritize the advanced green arrow for motorists to make left or u-turns through the intersections.

Work dates*: As early as Monday, August 10 – August 14*
Work hours*: overnights from 7pm – 6am
Work area: Davis at the intersections of Yonge, George and Barbara

What you need to know:

  • Crews will be working overnight to reduce the impact on daytime traffic.
  • Left-turn lane closures will be required to install the sensors.
  • There is noise, dust, and intermittent vibrations associated with this work.

Paving update

Due to mechanical issues, rapidway paving on Davis continues this week. For details, please refer to our Davis Drive paving schedule for the week of August 4.

Work dates*: August 10 – August 14*
Work hours*: 7am-7pm [some weekend work may be required]

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time.
