The centre rapidway and pedestrian walkways continue to take shape this summer as we make significant progress transforming Davis Drive into a vibrant place for businesses and residents alike.
Please see below for information on Davis construction activities taking place in several locations along the corridor next week [July 20 - 24].
Rapidway construction [Barbara Road to Lundy’s Lane/Prospect Street]
As rapidway construction progresses along Davis Drive, crews will begin building the centre bus lanes and medians between Barbara Road and Lundy’s Lane/Prospect Street. Please see below for information on how to access side streets and driveways in the area.
Work dates: July 20 –Fall 2015*
Work hours: 7am-7pm [some weekend work may be required]
Work area: Barbara Road to Lundy’s Lane/Prospect Street
What you need to know:
- Temporary lane closures will be required to complete the work.
- Left turns across the rapidway work zone are not permitted. Mid-block access to driveways and side streets will become right-in/right-out only.
- Motorists and pedestrians are not permitted in the work zone. For everyone’s safety, please respect all construction signs and barriers.
How to access businesses and side streets between Tannery and Lundy’s Lane/Prospect Street
- Motorists will no longer be able to turn left from Davis to access Taylor Funeral Home [524 Davis], 540 Davis, or Charles Street/Bayview Parkway.
- Motorists exiting the above and 567 Davis will be able to turn right only. This is a permanent condition.
- For eastbound Davis, motorists wanting to access Bayview Parkway or businesses on the north side, a temporary cut-through lane east of Charles, in front of 567 Davis, will be in place to make a u-turn into westbound traffic, or a left-turn into 567 Davis.
- Motorists may enter the cut-through lane and when safe, turn onto Davis to their destination.
- For westbound Davis, motorists wanting to access Charles Street or businesses on the south side, u-turns are permitted at the Tannery intersection.
As construction of the dedicated bus lanes progresses east down the centre of Davis Drive, median work at other intersections will follow later this year.
Curb work [Roxborough Road to Alexander Road]
Work dates: July 20 – July 24*
Work hours: 7am-7pm [some weekend work may be required]
Work area: South side of Davis, between east of Roxborough Road to east of Alexander Road
What you need to know:
- Crews will begin to pour curbs on the south side of Davis between east of Roxborough Road to east of Alexander Road.
- Access for motorists and pedestrians to businesses will be maintained at all times. Please watch for signs.
