Throughout the winter months, vivaNext construction of the Davis Drive rapidway will continue in segments on Davis Drive from Yonge Street to Roxborough Road. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ll be working on over the winter.

Crews will continue storm sewer and watermain installation, utility relocations and ductbank installation [a structure that gathers together and encases telecommunications wires underground] along Davis Drive. Crews will also extend the south side of western creek culvert at Davis and Niagara Street over the next several months in preparation for road widening. Construction of the north side of Keith Bridge will wind down over the winter and will resume in the spring.

Next year Davis Drive traffic will continue to shift and be reduced to one lane in each direction from Yonge to Roxborough in order to accommodate the construction activities mentioned above. During winter construction some sidewalks will be closed. A winter sidewalk plan is in place to ensure pedestrian access is maintained. One sidewalk on the north or south side will always remain open. Please watch for directional signs that will guide you to the nearest open sidewalk and remember to cross safely at signalized intersections.

 Holiday Office Hours at the vivaNext Project Information Centre

With the holidays around the corner, the office hours for the Davis Drive project information centre [130 Davis Drive, Unit 4] have changed. The office will be closed over the holidays, starting on Monday, December 14, 2013. The office will re-open on Monday, January 6, 2014. Winter office hours will be in place starting in January.
