Retaining wall construction at the Dixon Medical Building (531 Davis Drive)

On July 19 crews will begin constructing a retaining wall in front of the Dixon Medical Building at 531 Davis Drive (west of Bayview Parkway on the north side). The wall will be 13 metres long and made from pre-cast blocks topped with a hand railing.

Work timeline

  • Starting July 19 for approximately one to two weeks*
  • Hours: 7am – 7pm

Description of work

  • Install construction fencing and clear landscaping.
  • Excavate the work area.
  • Build the retaining wall.
  • Backfill and restore the area.

Sidewalk and lane closures

  • Temporary closures of the westbound curb lane may be required.
  • If bus stops or sidewalks are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop and on safe detour routes.
  • A flag person will be on site to direct pedestrians, when needed.

Access to businesses

  • All building entrances will remain open.
  • Since the building’s southern entrance/pathway will be near the construction work area, please consider using the building’s northwest entrance.
