To accommodate the road widening on Davis Drive, hydro crews will soon start work to relocate hydro poles farther back from the roadway. Starting in June, new supportive bases, followed by new concrete poles will be installed along Davis Drive.
Crews will install hydro pole foundations:
Note: Going forward, hydro crews will be working in the boulevards and lands acquired by York Region.
Note: Old wooden hydro poles (currently housing telecommunication wires) will be cut just above the wires and remain in place until telecommunications services are relocated into the new underground duct bank.
The concrete bases will support 150 new hydro poles placed approximately 55 metres apart.
The new concrete hydro poles are 19.8 metres tall, have a decorative black finish, an overhead street light and do not require supportive wires.
