August 18, 2011

- – -   REVISED START DATE   – - -

As part of construction to widen Davis Drive for rapidways, a new retaining wall is being built in front of the 200 Davis Drive plaza (east of Longford Drive).

When will this work start?

Crews will begin retaining wall construction on Monday, August 22 and work is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2011.

Please note: The old entrance will be closing and all traffic will use the new entrance to the west of the plaza, at the Longford intersection.

What will this work include?

Work will include removing existing asphalt and/or curb, excavating earth and building the retaining wall. A handrail will be installed on the wall and the surrounding area will be restored. The wall is being built using stone blocks and will have a maximum height of approximately 2m.

How will traffic circulation in the parking lot change?

  • The existing entrance and front parking spaces for the plaza will be closed as of Monday, August 22, and drivers will use the new entrance and parking lot beside the plaza at the Longford Drive intersection.
  • There will be a single lane of eastbound traffic circulation around the building for emergency access and passenger drop-off only.

Will sidewalks and Davis Drive traffic be affected?

  • There will be temporary eastbound curb lane closures from 9:30am – 3:30pm, which may occasionally be extended until 7pm
  • Sidewalks will remain open, and flag personnel will direct pedestrians
  • There will be brief traffic delays from 7:30am – 9:30am as flag personnel direct construction deliveries
