Keith Bridge widening begins

January 18, 2011

As part of the project to build rapidways along Davis Drive, the Keith Bridge needs to be widened.

Reconstruction of the south side of the Keith Bridge will begin during the week of January 17, 2011, and will continue until December 2011.

What is happening in this area?

  • Work crews will set up at 496-498 (vacant lot east of the Holland River) during the week of January 17, 2011.
  • Crews will remove snow from the site, and bring in machinery and a construction trailer.
  • This location will be the main construction office until December 2011.
  • Crews will then begin widening the Keith Bridge on the south side, including building the bridge footings, underside and deck of the new widened bridge.

Will the sidewalks in this area be impacted?

The sidewalk on the south side in front of 474 Davis Drive and over the Keith Bridge will be closed during phases of heavy construction. During these phases, detour signage will direct pedestrians to the sidewalk on the north side.

Will there be traffic impacts on Davis Drive?

From time to time there may be temporary lane closures, but most of the work is done outside of the roadway, at the base of the existing bridge.

Will there be any changes to the Tom Taylor Trail detour?

The current detour will remain in effect. Pedestrians and cyclists using the trail should follow the pedestrian detour signs and fenced walkway and cross Davis Drive at the traffic lights.
