Check out the preliminary design of the new Sheppard West subway station!

A key part of York Region’s vivaNext plan is the Spadina subway extension. Extending from Downsview Station in Toronto to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station in Vaughan, it will cover a total of 8.6 kilometres and include six stations.

This Tuesday, November 17, 2009, you are invited to attend a Public Open House to view the preliminary design concept for one of these stations – Sheppard West Station. It is the first of two public open houses for Sheppard West Station. The second one, scheduled for Spring 2010, will show detailed architectural concepts.

You mean Steeles West. There’s already a subway station on Sheppard West and it’s Downsview Station. 😉

DaleA: Thank you for your comment. The conceptual design for the Steeles West subway station was submitted for TTC board approval at the end of October. You can read about it here.
The open house that took place on November 17 was for the preliminary design of the Sheppard West subway station. The Spadina subway extension will have two subway stations on Sheppard Avenue – Downsview Station and Sheppard West Station. The Sheppard West Station will be located northwest of Downsview Station, where Sheppard Avenue bends around Downsview Airport. Although the vivaNext System Map on our website does not reflect this degree of road detail, it is indicated on our close-up map of the Spadina subway extension. You can view it here.
