Preparation work for Watermain Replacement

What type of work is being done?

On Friday, June 17, crews will be working within our construction zone from midnight to 8:00 am (to further clarify, this work takes place Thursday night to Friday morning) to complete preparation work for the Richmond Hill Watermain Replacement Project.

What properties are affected?

  • Properties located on Highway 7 between Doncrest Road and Valleymede Drive

What does the work entail?

  • We will need to dig a trench to remove existing pipes
  • Excavated materials will be loaded into trucks and moved offsite

What impact will there be?

  • There will be periodic noise from the sound of our equipment. We hope it doesn’t disturb you
  • To minimize impact and disruption to a limited number of properties whose water supply will be interrupted, crews will be working during the night
  • The affected properties have been personally notified of water service interruption
  • Work will be completed as quickly as possible to minimize any inconvenience
  • Please note, this work may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather

Thank you for your patience during this time. This construction is important to our neighbourhood.

*All dates subject to change; advance notice will be provided whenever possible.

When it comes to the future of transit in York Region – it’s coming to Markham this winter with the launch of the third section of the Highway 7 rapidway on South Town Centre Boulevard, Cedarland Road and Warden Avenue.

A lot of activity is taking place as we all prepare for Viva beginning to run in this new section of rapidway. This includes preparing to open the new Cedarland Station, testing of Viva and emergency service vehicles in the rapidway lanes and training of YRT/Viva staff – to name a few.

All this goes a long way to improving transit in York Region and providing a faster and more convenient commute. And all of you are a big part of that. Thank you!
