geotechnical work starts for Yonge Subway Extension

With the preliminary planning, design and engineering [PDE] phase underway, next week crews will start Geotechnical testing along Yonge Street from Finch Avenue to Highway 7. This work will take place at various locations along Yonge Street over the next several months. Please see below for further details.

work dates*: Monday, January 28 for approximately two weeks
work hours*: 7am–7pm
work location*: On Yonge, between Kirk Drive and Langstaff Road East

what you need to know:

  • Crews will use a drill rig to bore holes and extract samples. Each bore hole will take approximately two weeks to complete. At the end of each of work day crews will restore the roadway.
  • There will be a northbound curb lane closure through the work area from 7am–3pm for the duration of this work.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through the work zone.
