Construction Bulletins: Davis Drive
Revised Construction Bulletin 07.28.2010
As part of the early construction work for the Davis Drive rapidway, soil will be collected and tested to determine its properties. It is important to know what soils are located along the corridor in order to design the foundation for the roadway and any retaining walls.
From July 26 to August 20, soil samples will be taken from 12 locations in the land acquired by York Region in the boulevard area or in parking spaces adjacent to Davis Drive. At each address, a drill rig will bore a hole an average of five metres deep and four inches wide.

Construction Bulletin 05.13.2010
Starting the week of May 17th, archaeologists will be working along Davis Drive in 32 areas to carry out archaeological assessments. This work will ensure that important historical artifacts are identified before the roadway is widened for the rapidway.
The assessments are simple, holes are dug by hand and soil sifted for artifacts. A one foot by one foot hole, approximately one to two feet deep, will be dug approximately every 18 feet along the properties. The holes are then filled in.
